Launching the new year, Spring Hill is delighted to present a special winter exhibit “Whither Thou Goest, I Will Go.” Displayed throughout the rooms of the historic 1821 farmhouse, this exhibit tells the compelling story of Thomas and Charity Rotch, their journey to Ohio, the establishment of Kendal, and the early days of Spring Hill. It will focus on a partnership defined by devotion, resilience, and shared purpose during a formative period in American history. The exhibit is on display now through March 31st – schedule a tour now and don’t miss this opportunity!

This exhibit is an official part of the America 250th Celebration following the theme of “Ohio Firsts and Originals.” We are also proud to offer this opportunity as part of Massillon City’s Bicentennial.

You can schedule a tour Monday – Saturday between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Tour groups are capped at 25 guests and an RSVP is required by calling 330-833-6749 or through the tour request form.
Tours are $10/adult and $5/youth (6-17). Children under 5 are free.
Member passes are eligible for this exhibit!

Please note: The house is dimly lit for parts of the exhibit, those with vision impairment should plan accordingly or let your guide know you might need assistance. The farmhouse is not handicap accessible, but some accommodations can be made for guests with limited mobility.

Tunes of Yesteryear: A Parlor Concert Series invites audiences to step back in time and enjoy the music of the mid-late Victorian era through the height of the Jazz Age. Presented on Saturdays in March at 1:00 pm, this series offers a musical experience in the intimate setting of Spring Hill’s parlor room.

These performances are presented by talented local musicians, whose artistry and passion help connect our community to its musical past.

This free concert series is open to the public; however, advance registration is required due to limited seating in the historic parlor.

Lexi Johnson | March 7th at 1:00 pm

The North Canton based vocalist, private voice instructor, and music director will present “When We Are Called: Songs of Freedom and Peace.” Her parlor-style concert showcases hymns and period songs that would have been familiar to American homes during the 19th century and beyond. The program highlights how music served as a quiet but powerful voice for abolitionist values, human dignity, and care for one’s neighbors. Presented in a space that once offered refuge along the Underground Railroad, these songs invite reflection on faith, perseverance, and the ongoing call to stand for justice and peace.

Sue Scheetz | March 14th at 1:00 pm

Join us for a delightful sing-along style concert featuring popular songs from the spirited and sentimental music of the 1890s. In addition to well-loved tunes from the era, the program will highlight Massillon-centered favorites, including “Massillon Will Shine,” “Keep Massillon on the Map,” and the Washington High School Alma Mater. This intimate concert recreates the tradition of parlor music, when friends and neighbors gathered around the piano to sing the songs everyone knew.

All voices are welcome and music will be provided! Come celebrate community, history, and the timeless joy of making music together!

Julie Connair | March 28th at 1:00 pm

The Tunes of Yesteryear Parlor Concert Series welcomes vocalist Julie Connair for a special program, Ladies of Jazz. Julie will perform beloved standards written or made famous by legendary artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Peggy Lee, bringing their timeless music to life in an intimate parlor setting.

The afternoon’s program features classic favorites including “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Blue Moon,” and “I Wanna Be Loved by You,” along with other memorable tunes that highlight the talent and influence of women in jazz.
